Passport & Travel Documents
Although travel to St. Thomas does not require a passport, you will need one for the President’s Club group activity. Passports are required for all water travel and water activities, as well as for trips to the British Virgin Islands should you choose to visit.
U.S. Citizens must show evidence of citizenship upon leaving the U. S. Virgin Islands, e.g. passport, birth certificate, or photo ID. Please verify that your current passport is valid at least six months after the date of your return travel. For more on travel and entry requirements, please visit http://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en.html.
Note: We suggest you make photocopies of your passport. Leave a copy at home with your emergency contact, and, also, bring a copy with you. Remember to keep this copy separate from your passport. If your passport is lost, the photocopy will help facilitate obtaining a replacement.
Arrivals
Although travel to St. Thomas does not require a passport, plan on bringing one as you will need it for the President’s Club group activity. Though St. Thomas is U.S. Territory, leaving the island requires a passport. Passports are required for all water travel and water activities, as well as for trips to the British Virgin Islands should you choose to visit.
Upon arrival into Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas (STT), please proceed toward baggage claim. You are not required to clear customs if arriving from the United States. Greeters from CSI Virgins Island will be waiting just outside the gate area to escort you to baggage claim to retrieve your luggage. Greeters will be wearing bright blue shirts and holding Mallinckrodt signage. Once all bags have been identified, airport porters and CSI Staff will escort you to your transportation to the resort.
The road from the airport to the hotel requires travel through hilly terrain. If you are prone to motion sickness, please keep any remedy or medications on your person and take it 30 minutes before the journey to the hotel.
What to Pack
Please be sure to pack clothing suitable for outdoor activities in warm weather. At the hotel and in most restaurants, tasteful resort attire is acceptable. Shorts, sandals, flip flops, t-shirts, and swimwear with a cover-up are fine for daytime meals. All evening events are resort casual (think Caribbean chic!), so there is no need for suits, ties, or formal dresses. Tropical or Tommy Bahama style shirts are perfect with either dress shorts or khakis for men. Sundresses, skirts or capris with sandals are suitable for women. All outlets require footwear.
We suggest you include the following for your trip:
- Passport, travel documents, and a photocopy of your passport
- Hat and sunscreen
- Prescription medication
- Sunglasses
- Bathing suit and cover up
- Insect repellent
- Camera/underwater camera
- Layers, e.g. light sweatshirts, long-sleeved shirts, light jacket
- Sandals, flip-flops, tennis shoes/sneakers
- Dramamine if you experience motion sickness
Extending Your Stay
To extend your stay in St. Thomas, please include the full date range of your desired stay when you complete the hotel section of the registration page. Requests are based upon hotel availability, and the Mallinckrodt group rate* will be honored for three days pre- or post- meeting dates.
Please refer to the Global Business T&E company policy regarding combining business and personal travel for the steps required in order for your manager/supervisor to approve the extension.
Expenses incurred over the price of the scheduled, non-refundable ticket will be at your own expense and risk. In compliance with the company’s use of non-refundable tickets, refunds will not be given due to cancellations or changes to the meeting. All hotel, food, entertainment, and transportation charges incurred outside the meeting dates will also be at your expense.
*Mallinckrodt Group Rate: $409.00 per night, plus a $62.00 resort fee per night and any applicable taxes
Duty Free Shopping
St. Thomas allows a duty-free shopping quota of $1,600 for U.S. citizens, which is twice that of any other island in the Caribbean and three times that of European countries. In addition to your personal exemption, you can mail an unlimited number of gifts, valued at $100 or less per gift, (excluding perfume, liquor, or tobacco) to friends and family in the U.S.
